Changes coming soon!

As one saying goes "The only thing permanent is change", I am now planning some changes to my blog. It will no longer be specific to stocks alone but to other possible investment opportunities. I will be sharing my insights in building a solid financial foundation as i have learned from various seminars and friends. With this, i am changing the title of my blog and also the link soon. :)

DOWn Jones

As of writing, the DJIA is -209pts due to Euro concerns and unexpected rise in U.S. jobless claims. Will the U.S. economy crash again? I hope not, but if that happens, it would be great for us long term investors! :)

Just read my last post regarding some mining stocks and "IN" pa din sila. (PX, MA, LC now AT)

Go Green

Finally, a new all time high :) I now officially have a green portfolio for 2011 coming from a -17% performance months ago. Thanks to LC, hopefully this will bring us lots of earnings for this year. I read and heard a lot of comments regarding the voluntary trading halt for PX-MA-LC. They were saying that this would result to a la PLDT-DGTL deal since MVP's hands are all over the place. Also, a lot were still not able to move on with the recent SMC whatever :) But of course, one would only need to know the story behind it to know that it is actually good news for all the companies involved in the deal, thankfully it did not result to "sell on news". I think LC has a long way to go especially with GF (Goldfields) and PX's prospect into it.

Foreigns were net sellers today by 320M and they sold the following:
BPI 39M, MBT 32M, PNB 52M, AP 32M, EDC 73M, AC 20M, MEG 31M

SMC is back without a bang

What's hot and what's not? Mining and SMC. The Index was down big today, 1.15% and i guess we're lucky SMC is not a part of the index. A disclosure was released earlier that PX bought a 5%  stake in LC at .66/share. I think MVP would be gunning for more of LC later on. LC went up by 4.34% to close at .72/share. I read a part of the interview done on ANC with Ramon Ang of San Miguel and personally, i didn't like the way he answered the questions especially it's coming from one of the Biggies of San Miguel. Here's a part of the interview:

V: I’ll just go back to what you said in the past, that the offer price would be between P250...

A: 'Yun ang valuation, valuation na ginawa ng mga financial advisers is the share price valuation is about P200 to P250 per share. Kanya lang kami po sa San Miguel, gusto namin kung magbenta kami ng shares hindi po bababa kundi po, tataas para kumita ang mga kababayan natin

So why would he announce such a thing during that time and then impose a trading halt when the price started to descend? Instead of being able to cut loss slowly, a lot got stuck and then today, the price even dipped to 105 level. Now i think we all know how this company treat the small investors.

The Bull is Back?

After a quarter long consolidation, the index has finally resumed its previous uptrend. Notice on the past few days the significant amount of foreign buying on the blue chips, thanks to the DGTL-PLDT deal that started all these. Just before the market started to trend up once again, I have positioned myself on some select stocks that I will hold for at least 6months:

AP: +10.06%
DMC: +7.8%
EDC: +8.7%
MBT: +8.7%

^ ala cliffhanger

Planning to add more of these during corrections.

Diesel Month?

Our market has been consolidating since the start of the year. I wonder what will be the catalyst so that our market will be able to resume it's uptrend. Some issues are now being played, good for short term/momentum traders, congratulations for being brave enough to get into those select stocks.

Red zone for now :)

I just have attended The Feast last weekend, that was my first time. It was great and there's one thing i would like to share from that gathering. "What you can conceive, You will achieve!"

Happy 2011

Happy New Year Everyone! It's a brand new year for all of us and a new set of goals. To my fellow newbie friends who made money in the previous year in the stock market, congratulations and don't forget to share those blessings, hopefully this year would be better for all of us! To those who are break-even or at a loss, don't worry, it's another year to look forward to in turning your portfolio to the green zone. :) And to my friends that i still owe an introduction regarding investing/trading stocks, let's schedule it this January! (kahit sa coffee shops pwede).

This year looks good for the PSE, especially in some sectors that are in demand. (Power - high demand less supply, Mining - soaring commodity prices, Gaming - Big time Casino's, etc)  It just takes a little of our time to know what is actually going on in our country so that we can take advantage of these stocks that could give us some profit. :) A prosperous year to all of us! ("Let's make it happen in 2011" - Mr. Rasheed)
